A Jon Post
Well we’ve got only one week left and we’re outa here. Hard to imagine some times.
Still working on our visa for Angola, PLEASE keep praying for that.
Still learning Portuguese. We are happy with how far we’ve come.
We’ve been putting up huge walls of text recently so I’ll finish here. Here’s a bunch of pictures of a trip we took today. We went to a vineyard and picked the grapes, gathered the grapes, stomped the grapes, broke the thing that presses the grapes (oops, Jon’s fault) and had a great time.
Love you all! Where’s all the comments to let us know you read this thing? Click on the little bubble at the top right of this post and add a comment! Come on people!
Click on the pictures to see the full sizes! Oh, sorry about the strange captions. It’s been a long day and I couldn’t get this out of my head.
Here is a comment to let you know that I read your post. OH MY… you were in a silly mood. ; ) Ben will appreciate this entry. I just have one question… after all that work, where is the wine?!?
:) im such a lazy friend, iim glad i finally ggot here! this looks like tons of fun. glad the learning is going well. lov!
OMG I’m really crackin up! LOVED the pics of your experience. Now did you get to drink any wine? Yummies;) You can send some our way. We will save it to celebrate our little one in the spring;) hehehe So excited for you guys. Have a great final week and safe travels back! Tell Layne she looks skinnies;)
I laughed so hard at your pictures and running story below! How fun! It looks like you both had a blast! An odd question, but what do they do with things like toe jam, dirt and hair in the juice from peoples feet!? I always wondered about that….
I’ve never stomped on grapes before, but I have used an apple press for apple cider. Can’t wait to hug your necks. According to Joe, you’re getting skinny in Portugal. Not sure how with all that pound cake!! :) Layne, soon you will be here with all things pumpkin-colored and flavored!!
Laura’s comment is disgusting! (But I wonder and worry about that too; things like this make it almost certain that I will never be a wine drinker …)
Thank you for the clue about the bubble, Layne. I used to be able to make comments on your posts, but the format changed somewhere along the way, and I could never figure out how to do it anymore. I cannot TELL you how many times I have looked for something to click on to leave a comment; it always left me with that uncertain and intimidating feeling like, “Is it right in front of my nose and I just can’t see it? I used to be able to do this — I know I am old, but surely this isn’t like … Alzheimers or something? … oh dear!”
hahaha! looks like great times! and i love the “i has a bucket” theme. went to the walrus link and laughed hard. :) love you guys and can’t wait to see you soon!

Hi!
We think of you guys and pray for you lots. I sent you a reply to your e-mail Jon…maybe you won’t get it. I initially couldn’t figure out how to post here. :-) :-( I can relate too closely to Vicki!!
Did you guys drink any of that “grape juice” that you smoonched? :-) Hmmmmm!
We will be lifting you up with your continued Portuguese studies, with your visas and all else.
Blessings and care,
Maribeth for all
